SatCom Group

SatCom Group provide reliable satellite communications equipment and airtime for those working and travelling in remote areas.

SatCom has already supplied satellite communications equipment into Iraq for the companies who are directly involved in rebuilding the infrastructure, as well as the security companies who work alongside them.

We offer a wide product range, covering all aspects of satellite communications equipment – hand-held, portable, fixed, maritime and aeronautical. The leading technologies we supply include Iridium, Thuraya, Inmarsat, Globalstar, VSAT and AceS.

Products we have supplied, and which have been particularly useful to the reconstruction effort in Iraq, include:

Thuraya satellite handsets and associated accessories. Thuraya delivers voice, fax, data, SMS and GPS services to an area spanning more than 100 countries. When in the coverage area which includes Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, calls can be made to and received from anywhere in the world. The phones are small, lightweight and hand-held with data speeds of up to 9.6kbps. An external antenna and various vehicular options are also available.

Iridium satellite handsets and fixed installation equipment. Iridium is the only truly global hand-held satellite phone, the system is capable of voice, fax, SMS and data communication. A range of external antennas are also available for complete flexibility. At times in Iraq the communications infrastructure has been very unreliable. For aid efforts to be successful, reliable communications are essential and Thuraya and Iridium phones provide this vital service.

Regional BGAN satellite modem. R-BGAN is a Broadband satellite IP modem operating at speeds of up to 144 kbps. The terminal is small, lightweight and portable, with a coverage area spanning Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Africa. The terminals have proven to be particularly useful in Iraq as they are robust yet portable and extremely cost effective. As the terminal is ‘always on’, you only pay for data sent and received and not the time connected.

New generation BGAN terminals (up to 492 kbps asymmetrical). Four brand new terminals have just arrived on the market to deliver Inmarsat’s BGAN service. We anticipate that these terminals will be extremely popular with those involved in the reconstruction effort in Iraq as they deliver voice and data simultaneously through the same terminal for the first time ever. Their total portability combined with extremely high data rates makes BGAN an essential tool for communicating to and from remote offices.
